Investing in Myanmar: Riding the Second Wave of Reforms

Myanmar experienced high levels of foreign investment during the early years of the country’s shift to a market orientated economy, but interest decreased in the period after the 2015 elections as investors awaited the rollout of new policies to the investment framework. Recent actions taken by the Myanmar government to amend laws and policies relating to foreign investment and banking provides investors with greater opportunities than existed in the early years of the county’s economic opening. More opportunities exist across a broader range of sectors from services to manufacturing, agriculture and trading. However, investors seek greater clarity on the current opportunities, restrictions, and mechanisms in forming an investment decision in the complex regulatory environment of Myanmar.

Join us while we present on new legal, regulatory and policy reforms initiated by the government to encourage investment and discuss new opportunities that Myanmar presents to investors.
