    MICHELIN-STAR DINING WITH CHEF SAYAN IN SCANDINAVIAN WEEK AT THE ST. REGIS BANGKOK

    Acclaimed, 1-Michelin-Star, Thai-born, Swedish Chef Sayan Isaksson makes a guest appearance at The St. Regis Bangkok’s Scandinavian Week, to present an array of Scandinavian inspired menus, at Jojo and VIU Restaurants, from 4th to 11th November 2018, as well as Afternoon Tea, throughout the month.

    Bangkok, Thailand, 11th September 2018 – Top Michelin-Starred culinary talents from around the globe are a regular feature at The St. Regis Bangkok, taking over the kitchens for exclusive dining. From Sunday 4th to Sunday 11th November 2018, The St. Regis Bangkok presents acclaimed 1-Michelin-Star, Thai-born, Swedish Chef Sayan Isaksson. Making a guest appearance during Scandinavian Week, Chef Sayan, previously of Michelin-Starred Esperanto, in Stockholm, will present an array of Scandinavian inspired menus, infused with Asian influence. Renowned Swedish musicians will compliment the experience, during selected menu presentations, including brunch and dinner. Bringing ‘Simply Scandinavian’ to The St. Regis Bangkok, Chef Sayan will take on the very popular St. Regis Sunday Brunch on both Sunday 4th and 11th November 2018 at VIU, with his culinary creations. Guests will also have the chance to experience a full 8-course degustation menu and 3-course set lunch at Jojo Restaurant, from 5th to 10th November. All month long, from 1st to 30th November, Chef Sayan’s contribution to The St. Regis Afternoon Tea, from 2:30pm to 5:00pm, can be savored at The Lounge and The St. Regis Bar. The Swedish musical accompaniment will be featured during dinner at Jojo and brunch at VIU only.

    ‘Simply Scandinavian’ is an organization, celebrating and showcasing Scandinavian flavors, culture and music, annually in countries around the globe. Chef Sayan will prepare various menus over the course of the week, inspired by the cuisine of Scandinavia, infused with his diverse worldly influences. His delectable, dramatic plates are always technically flawless and visually stunning.

    “I'm really honored and moved by this gift, given to me, to cook in my birth country. My wish is to infuse Scandinavian flavors with the very sophisticated and brilliant food culture of Thailand,” comments Chef Sayan Isaksson.

    Guests can expect to have their food perspective rocked, with mouthwatering creations. On the dinner menu at Jojo, highlights include: lightly grilled prawns in nasturtium leaves; tartar of flash-grilled dry-aged beef, emulsified oysters and seaweed crisps; mushroom and grain porridge with aged butter and yuba; softshell crab cooked over glowing embers with organic waste-XO; celeriac petals and white truffle; and many more tantalizing dishes.

    The 3-course set lunch at Jojo sees an indulgence of oriental garden salad, buttermilk fromage blanc and a poached pullet egg, followed by black garlic pigeon, Nordic ‘five spice’, potato and herb bundles, finished with autumn leaves and frozen sunchokes and grilled apple tea.

    Perfectly complimenting these Scandinavian flavors, infused with Asian touches, optional pairings of carefully selected wines are available, at both lunch and dinner at Jojo Restaurant from 5th to 10th November 2018, for the additional fixed price of THB 1,800++ per person per set menu.

    The connection between French and Japanese cuisine dates back centuries, evolving through a mutual respect and affinity for one another’s culinary techniques, precision and passion.  Focused on a single element from the familial roots of Chef Hideaki, this exquisite six-course collaborative dinner will center around the Japanese citrus fruit, yuzu. Yuzu is a citrus fruit known for its characteristically strong aroma.  The oil from its skin is marketed as a fragrance, and it is popular in many types of cuisine, especially Japanese.

    With years of experience working in Michelin-starred restaurants in France and around the world, most notably Chef Hans had the chance to work with the celebrated chef Alain Ducasse at Alain Ducasse Au Plaza Athénée in Hôtel Plaza Athénée – Paris.  Chef Hans will drive the Tables Grill team to new heights by incorporating authentic French flavors and meticulously plated dishes to local and international guests in Bangkok.

    After years of experience working at “Mutekiro” in Yokohama, Japan, and later in France, Chef Hideaki Imahashi moved back to Tokyo in 2008.  Pattissier Shoko Hirase also gained experience in France, by way of “Patisserie Pascal Pinaud”, “Restaurant Jules Verne” and “Restaurant TOYO” before returning to Japan in 2011.  In 2013, both Chefs were united in Tokyo at “Keisuke Matsushima”, before eventually joining forces in 2016 to open “Restaurant L’aube”, awarded one Michelin Star in 2018.

    Acclaimed UK Chef Tim Spedding Cooks Up a Storm in Bangkok

    Marriott International Bangkok is thrilled to announce that Chef Tim Spedding from the UK will join us from November 2 – 17 for a series of unique culinary events at the city’s finest hotels.

    The acclaimed British chef has an impressive pedigree that includes Michelin star restaurants The Clove Club and The Ledbury in London, and the Quay in Sydney. Tim is currently working on his next project. Together with his partner Louise Roedkjaer, the pair will open a rural guesthouse in Cornwall that attracts guests from around the world to try their farm to table cuisine.

    Tim is recognized as one of the UK’s most exciting and influential young chefs. In Bangkok, we will showcase his extraordinary talents at five hotel restaurant venues; Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit,
    a Luxury Collection Hotel, Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel & Towers, Bangkok Marriott Hotel Sukhumvit, Renaissance Bangkok Ratchaprasong Hotel, and Le Méridien Suvarnabhumi, Bangkok Golf Resort & Spa.

    The 2018 edition of Shrewsbury International School's annual musical showpiece, Last Night of the Proms, takes place on Thursday 1st November.



    The event promises to be another evening of top-quality entertainment and hospitality, and begins at 5:45pm with pre-concert drinks and buffet, and following the concert itself, the evening will be capped with riverside fireworks and cocktails.
