 July 2015 Issue 13

"It is with considerable sadness that we learned of the passing of Warwick Kneale in Sydney on 26th June. Warwick was a great friend to many of us and a passionate supporter and contributor to the Australian cause in Thailand, he never tied of promoting Thailand to Australian investors and traders. In late April he wrote an article (Read here) whilst undergoing treatment in Sydney  selling the Thailand story for publication by the ANZ. We are re-publishing his last article in this issue of e-Advance. Typical Warwick, always keen to see the positives, never a negative word about anybody, always a well-meaning gentleman.

Warwick was very proud of his achievements in Thailand with Baker Tilley and with AustCham and we will miss his presence in so many ways. Warwick served on the AustCham Board from 2001 to 2008 and then again as Treasurer from 2012 to 2014 making meaningful contributions to the Chamber’s Community activities and later in improving the Chamber’s finances. RIP my dear friend. "

Joint event with BCCT, AMCHAM - The Digital Economy Talk with DPM

The Digital Economy may be the single most important investment for a country. For Thailand it can fundamentally improve almost everything - most of which Thailand desperately needs to improve. It can revolutionize the way services are provided to its citizens, bring transparency, reduce corruption, fuel citizen empowerment, provide education to those in all walks of life, promote healthcare and well-being, dramatically cut costs, increase productivity, attract foreign companies, remove red-tape, promote innovation, foster culture and help with serious systemic issues like an aging population.

How a Lean & Agile Thailand can fit in ASEAN

I recently read an article by Marc Singer of McKinsey & Company,[1] which grappled with how larger corporations keep pace in an increasingly dynamic business environment. This requires new ideas to be urgently conceived, tested and implemented based on consumer feedback and behaviors. While not specifically mentioning Lean and Agile methodologies, the article supported the argument that these will improve a firm’s competitiveness.
