" The last month has been relatively quiet as mourning period protocols have been respected.
Recent Events and Activities
• Two well attended boardroom meetings were recently held with ESB members to discuss legal obligations of Directors and to provide Australian Government officials with first hand feedback on the current business climate on the eastern seaboard. We extend a special thanks to Trevor Dick, AustCham ESB Coordinator, who has worked hard to deliver a program of topical meetings for the ESB membership this year.
• On 13 November AustCham was represented by long serving member Bob Coombes who laid a wreath on behalf of the Chamber at the Remembrance Day Service hosted by the British Embassy.

• Finally, Peter Emblin, AustCham Director and a number of members also attended last week’s JFCCT luncheon with H.E. Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha who addressed the topic "Open for Business: The Next Chapter in Thailand's Competitiveness”. We are working with the JFCCT to publish a full account of the Prime Minister’s speech in the next edition of eAdvance.
CSR Update
Later this week we will be sending out the annual electronic survey seeking your feedback on financial donations to be made to charitable activities across Thailand. The AustCham Board has identified a number of causes and members will be asked to nominate their preferred cause. The five causes who will receive the most nominations will each receive an equal donation from annual fundraising monies.
Don’t Forget to Book
Tickets for the End of Year Christmas Reception at the Ambassador’s Residence on Tuesday 13 December are going fast.
This week we launched the ‘Save the Date’ promotion for the next Australia Ball which will be held on Saturday 28 January 2017 at the Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok. Tickets will go on sale later this week and we have included a video teaser in today’s eAdvance. Next year will mark the 40th Anniversary of the Chamber and we will start 2017 by turning the clocks back 40 years to 1977 at the Australia Ball.
Farewell and thanks
This will be my last issue of eAdvance. It’s been a busy time and I would like to thank the many members who have made the last couple of years so rewarding. I also provide special recognition and thanks to the team in the Chamber Office - the long serving Khun Moo who is the backbone of the organisation, Khun Yata who is the smiling face of our membership and communications services, Khun Lock our digital communications expert and producer of some amazing event graphics and videos (including today’s Australia Ball Promotion Video), Khun Nong who manages reception and accounts and Khun Boi who makes sure everything is where it needs to be, when it needs to be there. Special thanks also to Rochelle Le Pere who has worked so hard to deliver the new website this year and the annual Alumni Awards over the last two years. You are a great team! My replacement will be announced shortly and I know I leave you in great hands. "
