New Monsoon Tasting Menu at Punjab Grill

The award-winning restaurant Punjab Grill located just off the lobby of the upscale Radisson Suites Bangkok Sukhumvit recently launched a Monsoon Tasting Menu. In his new curation, Executive chef Bharath. S Bhat applies a modern sense of adventure and sophistication to regional Indian flavours to offer aficionados of Indian cuisine a soulful, sensory, and contemporary dining experience.
Known for his modern interpretations of classic Indian dishes, Chef Bharath, whose experience Grosvenor House Dubai, Armani hotels, St. Regis, Le Meridien and Alila resorts, seduces your taste buds with two new mouth-watering tasting menus that cater to both non-vegetarian and vegetarian palates.
Both menus set the tone with Burrata Badal Jaam. A contemporary re-imagining of a popular Awadhi dish, it substitutes the traditional creamy coriander-flavoured yoghurt with locally sourced fresh Italian burrata that is a rich smooth counterpoint to the spiced grilled eggplant and tomato salad. The second course, Laal Mirch Aur Leshuni Jheenga, is an Indian inspiration of Local Thai dish (shrimp and pomelo salad) serves up giant tiger prawns, which are marinated in red chilli and garlic before they are roasted in the charcoal tandoor. The accompanying pomelo and guava chaat adds a sweet and sour zest to the it. On the vegetarian menu, velvety tofu replaces the prawns.
The next dish riffs off the traditional and popular Mexican dish with Raan Tacos. Maize flatbreads are stuffed with pulled braised baby lamb leg, and amped up with radish pickle and avocado garlic, while spiced raw jackfruit takes the place of meat on the other option. A Passion Fruit Ginger Granita cleanses the palate for the mains, Saag Murgh, a classic, sumptuous dish from the Punjab region. Baby chicken breast is marinated for 24 hours in dried fenugreek leaves, yoghurt and yellow chilli powder, grilled in the tandoor over and served on top of a clove-scented spinach gravy. Fresh house-made cottage cheese replaces the chicken in the vegetarian-friendly version of this dish.
For dessert, Chef Bharath undercuts the perception that all Indian desserts are overly sweet with a subtle yet scrumptious Gajar Halwa Tart, or carrot and milk pudding scented with green cardamom powder filled in a sweet pastry case, and served with pistachio ice cream. It is a fitting end to a perfect meal.
The six-course Monsoon Tasting menus are priced at THB 1,499 ++ and THB 990 ++ respectively per person.
