Our speakers have all been doing Business in Myanmar. Each will provide an insight into some of the challenges of operating in such a rapidly changing environment and the talk will be followed by a brief panel discussion.
About the Speakers: John Anderson Managing Director, Meinhardt Myanmar and Director, Meinhardt Thailand Originally from South Australia, John Anderson has lived in Thailand since 1995, and has 25 years experience working as a Professional Engineer on projects in Australia, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Hong Kong, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, India and most recently Myanmar. John has been responsible for overseeing engineering design, design management and coordination of a number of Meinhardt's largest projects including "The River”, “Millennium Residence” and “Sukhothai Residences”. John has expertise in the design of high-rise buildings, steel structures and in earthquake design. In addition, he has played an active role in the Australian business community in Bangkok, and is past President of the Australian Thai Chamber of Commerce (AustCham). Gil Amilbangsa Chief Representative, NS Bluescope Pte Ltd - Branch Representative Office, Yangon, Myanmar Acting President, NS BlueScope Lysaght Singapore BS Industrial Engineering, University of the Philippines CPIM, APICS Gil Amilbangsa has 25 years operations and project experience in building products and steel fabrication across Australia, Southeast Asia, India and the Middle East. Gil has worked with the largest metal building systems companies in Asia on greenfield business development, factory design, build and start-up, as well as major plant and business process reengineering and operations management. Tony Picon Managing Director, Colliers International Myanmar Tony Picon has been living in Yangon since April 2012 and in his current role since June 2013. He has been in charge of operations in the country including tenant and landlord representation, investment consultancy, research and project management for new developments. Tony was responsible for the first ever comprehensive Yangon Property Report which was released in mid-2011 just as the country was opening up. Prior to Myanmar, Tony was responsible for Thailand research operations at Colliers, producing a wide range of reports covering Bangkok and other markets as well as the first ever Vientiane Property Report for Laos in 2012. He also managed research for Savills in Vietnam covering Ho Chi Minh City and other southern Vietnamese cities. Tony is currently President of the British Chamber of Commerce in Myanmar.
