The Australian-Thai Chamber of Commerce (AustCham) is delighted to host members from AustCham, The American Chamber of Commerce in Thailand (AMCHAM), the British Chamber of Commerce Thailand (BCCT), and the New Zealand Thai Chamber of Commerce (NZTCC) to discuss a new initiative from the Thai Customs Department called “Customs Alliances”.

The initiative is part of the Customs Department's plan for facilitating more efficient and transparent interactions for importers into Thailand via the implementation of a new mobile friendly application designed to enhance the interaction between importers and the Customs Department.  Applicants to the initiative recognised as low risk will receive prioritised trade services.

The Customs Alliance is grounded in a set of global standards agreed at an international level by Customs agencies worldwide, and the rollout in Thailand will be modelled on a number of similar systems already used regionally in Australia, New Zealand and Singapore.

Given the close relationship between the Thai and Australian authorities on this matter, AustCham has invited Vince Shaw from the Australian Border Force to provide a presentation on the Australian rollout of the system and in particular on how the system has been developed and designed in consultation with industry to ensure it provides a valuable contribution to firms' supply chains.
