AustCham Thailand would like to invite members and guests to our Breakfast Briefing on the topic of “The Culture of Communication in Thailand” by Ben Horgan, Senior Programme Manager at Corporate Training Express (CTX) a provider of language and skills training courses.
The presentation will be useful to any members who have recently moved to Thailand or any Expats who work with Thais in a multicultural environment.
It will include an overview and introduction to Thai culture and its implications in the working environment in Thailand. We will explore the effect of Thai culture in the communication between Thai nationals and foreign expatriates. There will also be a focus on the topic of first language interference in Thais use of English and a discussion of the importance in language development for improvement of cross-cultural understanding.

Speaker: Ben Horgan, Senior Program Manager at Corporate Training Express (CTX)
Ben has lived and worked in Thailand for 16 years as a teacher, trainer and business owner. He speaks Thai fluently and has passed the Thai language primary 6 test and Thai competency test held by the Thai Government Bureau of Education Testing. He has trained a number of expatriates in Thai culture and language and has worked with and trained Thais in a wide range of organisations from a variety of backgrounds.
Guest Speaker Dr. Ram Piyaket,
Dr. Ram Piyaket will be a guest speaker at the event. A Thai national, his background is as an electrical engineer. He has lived much of his life in the US where he obtained his Ph.D. from the University of California at San Diego. He has worked for several academic institutions both in the US and Thailand including the College of Management, Mahidol University, the International School of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University and Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. Ram has held many classes, organized and conducted a large number of trainings and workshops for organizational leaders both from public and private sectors
