For instance, Google search culls millions of options every second of every day for people seeking a good hotel or meal. That’s possible due to AI, or machine-learning, where Google can’t only crunch data at the speed of light, but also “learns” how to deliver more nuanced results.

Thompson, part of TUI UK & Ireland, offers a travel search tool, built through the IBM Cloud and equipped with natural language processing capabilities and IBM Watson technology. Through the tool, tourists will be able to converse with a chatbot to gain real-time search results for travel inquiries.

While Dr Kom believes that AI will not only boost the customization of the travelers’ experiences, but also provide invaluable traveler insights for all tourism industries professionals.
