In April 2022, with the strong support of the Victorian State Government, the inaugural SportNXT business conference was held in Melbourne bringing together 75 international sports leaders to share their insights on the major issues and opportunities facing the global sports industry. Following on from the SportNXT summit, AustCham members and guests are invited to join a webinar to learn more about how Global Victoria is exporting its sports expertise and innovation globally and how businesses in Australia, Thailand and all throughout South East Asia, can explore the opportunities available.
Our speaker, Rebecca Hall, Commissioner for Victoria to South East Asia, will share experiences from the SportNXT summit and present potential investment and collaboration opportunities for businesses in the sports industry.
Complementing Global Victoria’s lead, we will hear from Simon Highfield, International Development Manager at the Australian Football League (AFL Asia), and John Wellby, President of Thailand Tigers Australian Football Club, discussing the launch of the AFL Asian Championship, scheduled for Saturday 22nd October in Bangkok, Thailand.
The expansion of “Aussie Rules” in Asia is a great example of how a Victorian-based sport has been introduced to a global audience and we look how the pinnacle of the sport in Asia will unfold this year.
