AustCham is pleased to present Khun Thana Boonyasirikul, Vice President and Head of Foreign Investment Division of Ratchaburi Electricity Generating Holdings PCL (RATCH), and Greg Wallis, Senior Trade and Investment Commissioner at The Australian Trade Commission (Austrade Thailand), as speakers for our third Australian Business Forum (ABF) luncheon in Bangkok.  The ABF is a new Chamber initiative, supported by the Australian Government.

  • Dr Thana Boonyasirikul, Vice President and Head of Foreign Investment Division of RATCH. RATCH is a leading Thai investment company that focuses on investment, development and operations in the power generation business. The company concentrates on electricity generation, renewable energy and related businesses such as power plant operations and maintenance services for electricity generating plants. Over the past few years, RATCH has become an increasingly large Thai investor into Australia. It currently holds three Australian wind farms and four thermal power plants. In the next three years, RATCH plans to spend a further AUD$1 billion buying power plants and building wind farms to stay in step with Australia’s future energy policies. Drawing on his extensive experience, both in the power generating business as well as as a Thai investor into Australia, Dr. Thana will outline RATCH’s history and growth in Thailand and reflect on his experience in moving into the Australian market.
  • Greg Wallis, Senior Trade and Investment Commissioner at Austrade. Greg will present the first detailed analysis of its kind on the Australian investment presence in Thailand. He will provide both historical and comparative data on the volume of Australian FDI in Thailand and will offer a forensic examination of how many Australian companies are operating in Thailand and what business sectors they represent. It should provide some very interesting, and perhaps surprising, data about Australian business investment in Thailand.
