THE ST. REGIS BANGKOK INVITES GUESTS TO DIVE INTO SUMMER WITH THE LAUNCH OF

THE “GEMS OF THE SEA AFTERNOON TEA”

The new jewelry-inspired collaboration with MISIS is presented at The St. Regis Bangkok

     from 2 August to 30 September 2019

The St. Regis Bangkok presents a new afternoon tea in collaboration with Italian handcrafted jewelers MISIS, available from 2 August to 30 September 2019 exclusively at The St. Regis Bar.

For this latest gastronomic journey, Executive Chef Chris and Executive Pastry Chef Aey Anupong are inspired by the jeweler’s signature summer collections which showcase the beauty and mystique of the sea.

The aesthetics and ingredients of the afternoon tea celebrate the jeweler’s creative expressions of a vibrant coral reef ecosystem, an Italian village in the Amalfi Coast, and the traditional women freedivers who for thousands of years plunge into deep waters to gather abalones, oysters and other shellfish. MISIS’s “Reef Party” jewelry collection provides the design cues for the specially designed afternoon tea stand, styled as brightly hued coral growing from the seabed.

Drawing inspiration from the “AMA” (“Woman of the Sea”) collection and evoking the luxury repute of oysters and pearls, the Edible Oyster Shells, Avocado Crème, Salmon Pearls adds a touch of underwater fascination to the afternoon tea experience. Other sea-inspired culinary creations representing the same collection include Blue Curacao Bubbles – white chocolate, tonka bean, and blood orange-filled confectionaries which mimic the swirling waves of the ocean.

Mirroring the silhouette of the coral-shaped afternoon tea stand is the Black Forest Stone Cake, whose white chocolate coral adornments draw references to MISIS’s exquisite statement pieces in its “Positano” collection.

Savory delights in the afternoon tea set include Octopus and Olive Baguette – a nod to the jeweler’s European heritage and memories of the Italian seaside – and a Salmon Confit Lollipop with Wasabi Mayonnaise and Dulse Flakes, representing the “Poseidon” and “Isla de Mujeres” collections respectively.

The “Gems of the Sea Afternoon Tea” experience is priced at THB 1,650++ per set including tea or coffee for two persons. The afternoon tea is presented during 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM from 2 August to 30 September 2019 at The St. Regis Bar and The Drawing Room on the 12th floor of The St. Regis Bangkok.

For reservations and further information, guests can call +66 2207 7777, email fb.bangkok@stregis.com or visit www.stregisbangkok.com.

    Vegetarian Festival 2019

During the month of September, Phuket will also be the setting for the world-famous Vegetarian Festival. Also known as the Nine Emperor Gods Festival, the colourful event will take place between September 29th and October 7th and celebrates the Chinese community’s belief that abstaining from eating meat during the ninth lunar month will bring forth prosperity and good health. This belief is also shared by communities beyond just people who live on the island and therefore affects city-dwellers and villagers from all over the country.

The festival itself sees individuals partaking in extreme practices like fire walking to honour the gods, which adds an element of shock and surprise to the event. However, in addition to the many street celebrations, the island also transforms into a vegetarian’s paradise with plenty of street vendors, popular stalls and restaurants choosing to alter their menu in order to offer seasonal specials that cater to the large number of people abstaining from meat.

Superior Room starting from THB 3,020+++

Stay in a Superior room at Novotel Phuket Phokeethra
